PRESS STATEMENT
“Implement the True Federation of Malaysia – Dr. Jeffrey”
.......................................................................................................
Kota Kinabalu: “The federal government and its leaders need to wake up from their 52 years slumber and implement the true Federation of Malaysia as envisaged by the Malayan and Borneo forefathers in 1963 to reflect the actual basis of the formation of Malaysia” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, commenting on the speech by the Kedah MP, Datuk Johari Abdul, in Parliament last week on the status of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners with Malaya, and the support of DAP supremo, Kit Siang, that Sabah and Sarawak should be restored its 35% parliamentary seats.
And the general Malaysian public need to be made aware that neither did Malaysia gain independence on 31 August 1957 nor was it formed in 1957. Neither did Sabah and Sarawak join Malaysia in 1963 as distorted in our manipulated history books.
Malaysia was formed on 16 September 1963 as a new nation through the merger of Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore with the then Federation of Malaya and that Malaysia did not exist before then.
The federal leaders especially those from Malaya and their cahoots in Sabah and Sarawak should no longer hide behind their denial syndrome that the Malaysia today is NOT the real “Federation of Malaysia” that was to be formed in 1963 as a new nation.
This is more so after the departure of Singapore in 1965 and the years of manipulation thereafter including the devious, treacherous and traitorous granting of dubious ICs and MyKads and registration of ineligible foreigners as voters in Sabah.
The Borneo territories did not bargain in 1963 to be colonized as States in the Federation of Malaya and did not bargain for the wealth and resources of the Borneo States including its oil and gas to be siphoned off to fund the development of Malaya. The federal government and Petronas cannot continue to take 95% of Sabah and Sarawak’s oil and gas revenues.
Neither did our forefathers agree to the Malaysian federation being converted into a unitary state with concentration of power and money at Putrajaya under Umno with BN components as irrelevant and powerless hangers-on.
Whatever terms that have been agreed in the formation of Malaysia need to be honoured. For instance, Sabah must be restored its immigration powers, constitutional safeguards and 40% of the net revenue collected from Sabah including the projected RM1.2 billion in GST from Sabah for 2015. These are express provisions and safeguards in the Federal Constitution.
Whatever agreed upon and not provided in the Federal Constitution should be implemented by other legislative, executive or other actions by the governments of Malaya, which is masquerading as the Malaysian federal government, and the governments of Sabah and Sarawak as provided in Article VIII of the Malaysia Agreement.
The federal government needs to restore and practice true federation as agreed with the 11 States in Malaya in 1957 as the Federation of Malaya and to respect and restore the true Federation of Malaysia agreed by the Federation of Malaya with Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore in 1963 and restore their autonomy, constitutional safeguards and equal partners status.
